Carol Banker Obituary

Carol (nee McCue) Banker, age 75, passed away April 10, 2024, at her residence in Perry.  She was born December 30, 1948, in Painesville to James and Laura (Bellumori) McCue.  She was a 1966 graduate of Harvey High School.  In 1968, Carol married the love of her life, Connard Banker.  They shared almost 42 wonderful years together.

Carol and Con lived and raised their three daughters, Stacey, Cathy, and Amanda, in Painesville. During this time, she worked for the Riverside School District where she became a ‘Second Mom” to many of the students she encountered.  Although Painesville was her home, the call of more sunshine and warmer weather prompted Carol and Con to move to North Carolina in 1999.  While there, Carol worked for the Catawba County Library.  After the death of her husband in 2010, Carol wanted to spend more time with her grandchildren and split her time between North Carolina and Ohio.  She eventually moved back to Ohio permanently in 2022.  Ohio snow was not for her, so Carol always headed south in search of a beach and sunshine with her sister Sandy for those cold winter months after the holidays, giving her the best of both worlds.

Carol loved spending time with her family and friends.  All three of her daughters are convinced that they were Mom’s Favorite because she showered so much love on all of us.  However, once the grandchildren started coming, we realized grandkids supersede kids!  But that was okay because she loved each one fiercely and unconditionally.  Her grandchildren all liked to say that they were Grandma’s Favorite Grandchild.  Each one was right.  Carol’s love was not limited to her immediate family as she enjoyed spending time with her sister and brother and each of their families as much as her own.

When she wasn’t spoiling her family or attending their activities and sporting events, Carol also enjoyed spending time with her friends, traveling, reading, shopping, eating ice cream and cake, baking with her grandchildren, going to concerts and listening to live music, and going to her favorite place on Earth, the beach.  Even though she was always on the go, Carol always took time to stop and chat with anyone she encountered.

Carol is survived by her three favorite daughters, Stacey (Don) Bennington, Cathy (Jim) Benko, and Amanda (Matt) Banker- Schaser; her favorite grandchildren, Sadie and Bailey Mann, Shelby and Lindsey Benko, and Madelyn and Everett Schaser.  She is also survived by her sister Sandy (Joe, deceased) Cardina, her brother Barry (Judy) McCue; nephews, Phil Cardina, Chris Cardina, Shannon McCue, and Matt McCue; and niece, Tracey Cardina; and numerous great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Connard Banker in 2010; her mother Laura in 2004; her father Jim in 2012; and her brother-in-law Joe in 2018.
